A little bird told me, that people like black shirts more than white ones... Therefore, I created some black Planet-PHP shirts and some other base colors. Sadly the shop does not offer the exact color we use and shirts in so-called flock-print are a bit more expensive. Nevertheless, here are some of them:

A blue variant

You can find some more variants in my shirt-shop.

Sorry, that the shop is only available in German. If someone knows an international shirt-shop offering flock-print, please inform me!

Since a few days, we regularly get 1000 visitors a day. A nice improvement since the 200 in January ;) Keep 'em coming:

And here some quite interesting browser statistics from June (it's about hits, not visitors):
  • Mozilla/5.0: 35%
  • MSIE/5+: 31%
  • Opera: 3%
  • Netnewswire: 2%
  • Feedreader: 1.5%
  • Konqueror: 1.4%
  • Straw: 1.4%

Yeah! Inspired by the feedback we requested, I opened the Planet PHP merchandise shop.

1 Did you ever wanted to have a cool Planet PHP T-Shirt?

2 A nice gift for your girl friend?

3 A cool mug to show off at work?

4 Or does your dog need something new to wear?

Get that all and some other pretty nice products at our new merchandise shop, and let everyone know, where you belong! Central European people might even get better shipping cost here and here.

Just to let you know: The prices are all specified by CafePress. Neither me, nor anyone else involved in Planet PHP earns a cent with it.

The idea of Planet PHP is pretty old by now and I'm feeling that the portal starts getting a real part of the PHP community. The only feedback we have until now is from private talks on IRC and very few mails.

So, please give us some info, what you like on Planet PHP, what you do not like, what we can make better, what you miss or just what you think as comments on this article.

Thanks a lot!

Inspired by Mr. Cox's Mozilla search engine plugin for the PEAR package search I made one for Planet PHP. Just hit the "Mozilla Searchbar" link directly below the search form to add it to your Mozilla searchbar.

(Note: Maybe you'd have to run Mozilla - especially Firefox - as root, when you're using Linux.)

You may have already realized it. Planet PHP has now search functionality. It searches through all the entries we have in our archive with MySQLs fulltext capability. Maybe useful for some of you, if you remember having read something on a PHP related blog, but you can't remember where exactly that was. And it works for RSS, too. http://www.planet-php.net/rdf/search/chregu would give you an RSS 1.0 feed of all entries, which contain my nickname ;)

Davey is reporting some problems with accessing Planet PHP from time to time (browser timeout). Does anyone of you have the same problem? If so, we'd really like to know, because I don't have any problems (except for last thursday, where we were off the net for several hours...)

Thanks for your feedback.

Davey Shafik created a new version of our favicon, which has a transparent background and supports multiple sizes (48x48, 32x32, 16x16) in true color for Windows XP.

Nice. Thanks to Davey!

Planet PHP has finally its own blog, where we will inform about news and other topics related to Planet PHP.

It uses Serendipity aka s9y as blog software and we furthermore integrated s9y into Popoon, the framework we use for Planet PHP. Thanks to the "embed" option of s9y, the integration was an easy task. With this approach, we can use the same XSLT stylesheets for the main page as for the blog.

There are still some little layout issues, but they will be fixed in the next few days.

Keep in touch.
